Mekanisme perbaikan luka kutan diperlukan terutama untuk immediate survival dengan hasil akhir berupa functional compromise. Proses perbaikan luka terdiri atau 3 fase yaitu fase inflamasi, proliferasi dan migrasi, serta remodelling. Proses perbaikan luka kutan akut tidak sepenuhnya terjadi pada luka kronis.  Beberapa faktor baik lokal maupun sistemik dapat menyebabkan kegagalan penyembuhan pada luka kronis.

     The mechanisms of cutaneous wound repair are especially needed for immediate survival with the eventually outcome is a functional compromise.  The cutaneous repair process consists of three phases are the inflamatory phase, the proliferative and migratory phase, and the remodelling phase.  The acute cutaneous wound repair process is not occur fully in chronic wound. There are both local or systemic factor can cause the failure of heal in chronic wound.
