            Untuk membandingkan efek terapi Narrowband Ultraviolet B (NB-UVB) dan Broadband Ultraviolet B (BB-UVB) sebagai terapi psoriasis, telah dilakan studi retrospektif dari Rekam Medis RS Dr. Sardjito dengan diagnosis psoriasis derajat sedang-berat selama tahun 2000-2005, berdasarkan kriteria inklusi dan eksklusi. Derajat psoriasis dinilai menggunakan skor PASI (Psoriasis Area Severity Index) dan tipe kulit berdasarkan kriteria Fitzpatrick. Analisis statistik dilakukan menggunakan uji Wilcoxon untuk membandingkan perbaikan skor dan persentase PASI sesudah terapi antara kedua kelompok. Nilai p bermakna untuk p<0,05.

            Didapatkan 17 subyek pada masing-masing kelompok. Rata-rata skor PASI di akhir terapi pada kelompok NB-UVB dan BB-UVB berturut-turut adalah 2,49 dan 8,45 (p<0,05). Persentase perbaikan lesi berdasarkan skor PASI pada kelompok NB-UVB dan BB-UVB berturut-turut adalah 82,72% dan 55,09% (p<0,000).

            Dapat disimpulkan bahwa NB-UVB lebih superior dalam memberikan perbaikan skor PASI dibandingkan dengan BB-UVB pada psoriasis derajat sedang-berat pada tipe kulit IV-VI ditunjukkan p<0,05

            Narrowband Ultraviolet B (NB-UVB) is more effective than Broadband Ultraviolet B (BB-UVB) as psoriasis therapy. Nevertheless most studies are still limited on subjects with skin phototype I-III, and only few objective data on skin phototype IV-VI.

To compare the effect of NB-UVB and BB-UVB on moderate to severe plaque psoriasis patients with skin phototype IV-VI who came to Dr. Sardjito hospital, a retrospective study were taken from medical record of patients with moderate to severe plaque psoriasis between the year 2000 – 2005. Psoriasis grading was measured using Psoriasis Area Severity Index (PASI) score and skin type using Fitzpatrick criteria. Statistical analysis was done using Wilcoxon test to compare lesion improvement (PASI score and percentage) between two groups.

            There were 17 subjects on each group. Mean and percentage of PASI score at the end of therapy for NB-UVB and BB-UVB were (2.49 and 8.45, p<0.05) and (82.72% and 55.09%,  p=0.000).

It is concluded that NB-UVB is more superior in improving PASI score than BB-UVB on moderate to severe plaque type psoriasis with skin phototype IV-VI.
